In 2010, the men’s underwear industry continued to flirt with pop culture. Celebrities and sports stars played a huge role in driving sales of men’s underwear brands.

Calvin Klein kicked things off with their successful launch of the ‘X’ range which featured Twilight hottie Kellan Lutz, Hidetoshi Nakata, Fernando Verdasco and Mehcad brooks. The X range was the most successful Calvin Klein range in their history and the related video clips have been watched by millions. Emporio Armani recruited Cristiano Ronaldo while Dolce and Gabbana released a World Cup themed range of underwear featuring 5 football stars.

2010 saw some hot new trends as the industry pushed the boundaries and blurred the distinction between entertainment and softcore porn; In Part 1, we’ll featuring some of the trends we’ve identified and highlight some of the best videos from 2010.

Powered by YouTube, audiences’ buying decisions are influenced by sharing videos on Facebook, Twitter and on websites such as DailyJocks.com. Brands such as Calvin Klein and AussieBum have built their respective images with great photography and funky videos that tease and convince you to buy their underwear and swimwear.

Where’s the line?

We’ve experienced a number of bans by Facebook, along with a number of other men’s underwear brands. Campaign videos by Teamm8, Cocksox and AussieBum were taken down within days of being published and a number of dedicated pages set up to promote sexy underwear videos were removed. The following clips were removed from Facebook but thankfully we’re happy to post them on DailyJocks.com for you to enjoy.

Men’s underwear clips are more than advertising.

Many brands now spend a greater part of their advertising budgets on creating clever web-series or scenes that are more entertaining than a simple ad, e.g Lady Gaga/Beyonce’s to be continued video clips, many brands now extend video clips across a number of ranges for internet only viewers.

Amateur is hot!

They may have cost thousands to look ‘Amateur’ but the voyeuristic styles of some videos give them an element of excitement and realism not found in regular ads. Great productions can divide audiences to love or hate a particular clip, but, in the end it gets people talking about the brand.

For all men’s underwear and swimwear brands who are contemplating creating their own video in an effort to attract publicity and attention, use the featured clips as a benchmark of what people seem to clearly love.

What will be in Part 2?
